Cakes in Bolivia

I'm back! What an experience! I made it through the two weeks with only getting an intestinal infection. It was all part of the experience. So was the smoldering heat and the terrible roads and drivers. Mostly, I was humbled by the wonderful people there. They are so happy with the simple lives they have. It made me realize how lucky I am to live the way I do. I wish I could tell you all the million stories I have. It was wonderful! I'll never forget it.

This picture is on the last night we had in Bolivia. The family Roman threw a party for us and bought these cakes to celebrate. The little girl in the picture is Emily. She is 4 and is the sweetest little girl ever! The cakes are all pretty much like this. No fondant. Very colorful. Inside, the flavor of the cake was dull, not too sweet, but moist like a tres leches cake. Whipped filling with sliced peaches. Overall, very good, very Bolivian.

I'm way eager to get going on some new stuff. It'll be featured soon!

See ya in 2 weeks!

Ok, so I'm pretty sure this will be my last post until I'm back from my trip. Um....yeah, definitely the last one. I just wanted to quickly post the cakes I did in January. Both pictured were for birthdays, and I had full creative decision on both. I did also do a cupcake tower for Trevor's Grandma's 80th birthday, but it was pretty much a repeat of the tower I have featured on my website. Very classy for a birthday party, and thus very fitting for Trevor's beautiful grandmother.

Happy Valentines Day! See ya in 2 weeks!

Cake Truffles

Introducing...cake truffles! (AKA cake bites or cake balls. I prefer the name cake truffle myself.)

The ones pictured are all chocolate. And boy, are they rich! Other flavors include: red velvet, maple, pumpkin choco chip! Pretty much any flavor cake you can think of can be a truffle.

I wish I could offer these for Valentines Day, but Trev and I will be in Bolivia. But, like my mother-in-law said, "these would make great gifts for brother-in-laws!"
Yup. Or sister-in-laws. But no one else.

Just kidding. I'm sure you can come up with all different kinds of people to give these to. Cousins, teachers, 2nd cousins...

The First

I'm not much of a blogger...but it seems that it's just what crafty businesses are doing these days. I'll be posting updates and mishaps of My Adventures of Owning My Own Cake Business. It should be fairly interesting, seeing as I have only been doing this for 6 months-ish - there's bound to be some hilarious reality stuff!

So, stay tuned! I'll be blogging shortly.
